This and That

B.J. Upton felt fine Friday, a day after hitting in a game for the first time.

Looks like he’ll hit and play in the field during a Minor League game Saturday. Joe Maddon thinks Upton could be in a exhibition game with the Rays sometime next week.

Based on what I’ve seen thus far, I can see him in the lineup on Opening Day.  He just looks like he feels good.

The Rays’ Countdown to Opening Day Hot Stove Show for Monday will welcome Dioner Navarro and Dave Martinez as guests at 7 p.m. live from Joe Cracker in Port Charlotte. Listeners can tuen in the show on 620 AM WDAE.

The Rays want to expand their Teaming Up for the Environment initiative by promoting six organizations throughout the 2009 season that support the environment through educational programs. This program is open to organizations located within the 10-county region
immediately surrounding the Tampa Bay area.

What a great thing the Rays are doing for the environment!

Sound like good news all around.

Ever since the plastic bottle drop-off during the games, you knew that the Rays would find a way to become more and more “green” in 2009.
It is a moral responsibility of not just the team, but its fans to find ways to keep this planet beautiful for our future kids and their kids.
It has to start now, and I am proud the Rays take a firm step forward in this challenge.
