Crawford a man possessed

ST. PETERSBURG — In case you’re missing it, Rays left fielder Carl Crawford is simply going nuts on the basepaths on Sunday.

Going into the top of the eighth — with Tampa Bay leading the Red Sox, 4-1 — Crawford has reached base each of the four times he’s come up to the plate and has stolen five bases off Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek.
The steals gives him a Major League-leading 16 on the year and the franchise record for most steals in a game. The previous high was set by Crawford himself on May 24, 2006, at Toronto.
You might recall Rockies rookie Dexter Fowler also swiping five bases on Monday night.
Crawford — who has scored two runs — swiped second base in the first, third, fifth and seventh inning. In the first, he advanced to third on a bad throw, and he easily stole third base in the fifth.
