Morrison and Elfering Award Winners
In the Rays organization’s fourth annual awards, Jim Morrison was named Player Development Man of the Year and Kevin Elfering, Scout of the Year.
Morrison, who is Single-A Charlotte’s manager, is entering his fourth season with the Rays and 26th in professional baseball. Last year, in the Stone Crabs inaugural season, he led them to the Florida State League finals and was named by Baseball America as the “Best Manager Prospect” in the FSL in the 2009 Best Tools survey.
Elfering enters his third season as East Coast crosschecker. One of the first Rays employees, he joined the Rays in September 1995 as the area supervisor for Florida. His signees include current Ray Wade Davis as well as former Rays Bobby Seay, Kenny Kelly, Shawn Riggans and Elijah Dukes.
